The Storyteller- Hindi- Disney Hotstar

Simple. Elegant. With the colours and fragrances of Kolkata and Ahmedabad, Maach and Dhokla, the movie is a cinematic treat.

Tarini Bandopadhyay played by Paresh Rawal, a retired Bengali intellectual, gets employed with a Gujarati cotton businessman, Ratan Garodiya played by Adil Hussain.
And his job? To tell stories to Garodiya, because the latter suffers from acute insomnia and believes that stories could help him sleep in peace.
The sudden twist in the plot and the very unexpected ending make the movie all the more delightful.

The performances are brilliant. Paresh Rawal ji delivers a memorable role, with his perfect Bengali accent and mannerisms. Adil Hussain too does a great job.

Calm and soothing visuals of Howrah and Poojo, some poignant stories by Tarini, discussions about Tagore and Tolstoy…
This adaptation of Satyajit Ray’s story is a masterpiece.
