So my son’s Computer Coach got engaged recently, and I, for once, wasn’t in a mood to celebrate.
For the simple reason that the guy is just 23 perhaps, and the girl, 18.
What came in as a surprise, was the fact that the alliance was CANCELLED in matter of a week.
Why? Because the girl’s parents didn’t approve of the 1RK the boy stayed in, with his parents and two sisters.
The boy of course is dejected, his side,
“These girls complain about Men Demanding Dowry. That girl doesn’t have a Degree, and she rejects me for the Size of my House.
Isn’t that Wrong as well?”
So, the thoughts for Sunday Chai…
1) This boy earns decently but he is young, can’t afford to stay independently in a city like Mumbai. The girl obviously can’t contribute immediately, hasn’t completed her degree, so could She Have Adjusted?
2) A Girl entering a New Phase of her life, moving into a different home. Irrespective of her credentials, can’t she harbour dreams of an independent or perhaps a bigger home?
3) 18 and 23. The parents arranged the alliance, but couldn’t the younger generation refuse?
