Another terrible day, and burnt out, I scrolled mindlessly.
“Karma and Dand. Get Them the Punishment They Deserve.” I bumped into an advertisement. The cover picture depicted the blindfolded Lady Justice.
Curious, I pressed the website’s icon. And the power went off.
The earth shook beneath me, and I was spiralling down. Just when I thought I would die, I found myself seated before a computer, it’s blue rays illuminating a Torture Room of sorts.
Police officers interrogating prisoners, courts pronouncing punishments, judgments being handed down, the room reverberated with Sorrys and pleas.
“Who wronged you today?” A heavy voice from the screen jolted me back.
“A teenager pelted a dog with stones.”
“A streetside goon eve-teased a girl.”
“The rickshaw driver cheated me.”
“Punish them all.”
“Done.” Echoed the voice, “And you?”
“Me? I seldom confront, I never fight, never err.” I clarified.
The lights went off again, and I was shoved into a dungeon.
I heard the doors lock, I screamed, “What did I do wrong?”
“You didn’t stand up for yourself or others. What’s worse than to look on and walk away? Stay here. Hidden, as ever.” The voice faded.
