  • Title – The Gift of Self
    Author- Vandana Bhasin
    Publishers- Novoquill Publications
    Genre- Poems on Self Healing

The Gift of Self is a collection of 70 soul touching poems, each accompanied by an explanation in prose, to what the poem intends to convey.

The book is divided in Six Parts,
Path to Enlightenment
Quest for Self
Acceptance
Awakening
Insights
Divinity.
The poems are very systematically placed under these sections.

What amazes me the most, is how much of thinking and self reflection must have gone into quilling these beautiful verses. Every aspect of self development and healing has been encompassed under the six divisions.

The meaning of Aham Brahmasmi and the soul’s journey to salvation, the mind’s journey from yesterday to today, Acceptance of Loving your life, Adapting to Change, Gratitude and Miracles, and finally bonding with the divine.
This is the flow of the poems, so meticulously arranged by the author. From Aatman to Paramaatman.

The poems are very soothing, once you begin, you feel like floating in a calm lake in the woods. There’s an essence of hope and positivity that engulfs you as you proceed from one to the other.
By the end of the last verse, you feel so calm and relaxed.

The language is ornate and beautiful, it soothes your disturbed and restless nerves. You would just wish to go on and on and learn a bit more with every poem.

It’s incredible how the author has put in so much thought about The Significance of Focussing on Self, Keeping Calm, Liberating the Self from Ego and Anger and Bonding with the Divine. That’s definitely a difficult task, but the end result is indeed rewarding.

My personal favorites are Fading Footprints, Aham Brahmasmi, I Pause for a While, and, A Memo from God.

Vandana Bhasin’s The Gift of Self, is gifting your soul the peace and love it’s yearning for.
In today’s stressful times, I would recommend this book to everyone. To Pause, To Heal.
