Rekhachitram – Malayalam- SonyLIV

It’s been sometime since I watched a movie with such taut narration, perfect pace and unwavering focus on the main subject.
Rekha and her disappearance.

A 40 year old case gets reopened when one of the culprits shoots a video in drunken stupor, confessing his crime and accomplices. This leads to a superb crime investigation drama. Who’s the victim? Who did it? Why? How?

There are many layers to the mystery, various questions to be answered, plenty of twists to keep the audience hooked. I won’t want to give much away and spoil this brilliant movie for you.

Performances are very good, Asif Ali and Anashwara Rajendran shine. But its Zarin Shihab, who impresses the most, with her nuanced performance in limited screen time and almost zero dialogues. Special appearances by Jagdish sir and director Kamal, are pretty interesting too. Of course, Mammootty and Kathodu Kathoram references bring back the 80’s nostalgia.

Subtle, simple but a very powerful edge of the seat thriller, Rekhachitram is a Must Must Watch.
