A different story, laced with mystery and emotions. The winding roads, the sounds of the night, and the dark eerie jungle rouse your curiosity. It’s a simple tale wrapped in uncertainty till the very end.
Stephen played by Dileesh Pothan arrives at a village, with weird people and a strange silence. He bumps into Ammini Amma, a single grandmother to a little girl. The woman is aloof, rarely talks, and is a bit too protective about the child. The village residents are concerned about them, but the woman doesn’t let anyone close. What secret is Ammini Amma hiding, and what does Stephen have to do with it?
What I liked the most is, Am Ah isn’t just your quintessential thriller, because it has many layers to the narrative. It subtly, yet effectively talks about real significant subjects like surrogacy, infertility and disabilities. Garbed in a dark and chilling setting, Am Ah has it’s fair share of a pertinent topics getting discussed.
The performances are very good. Dileesh Pothan plays his part well, but Devadarshini slays it with her eyes and expressions.
All said and done, Am Ah is a gentle movie, fast and meaningful, with a message that makes you sit up and take notice.
Definitely worth a watch.
