WHEN PADMA BANI WIFEY – by Anupama Jain
Publisher – Readomania
When Padma Bani Wifey is a fun story of a confused wife, mother and working woman, Padma. With a generous sprinkling of quirky humour, the book explores the life of a small family and it’s struggles, especially when the woman of the house isn’t at her happiest best.
So the story is about Padma, a smart career woman, wife to Varun and mother to little Sampoorna. She has immense support, emotionally and financially, with her parents and brother ready to help when needed. But is that all life is about? If a woman has everything, does it mean she can’t ask for more? Padma is dissatisfied somewhere, and the love in her marriage is fading. To top it all, her ex returns to India, does she still have feelings for him?
Anupama Jain’s writing style is unique, she efficiently shifts back and forth, from humour to seriousness. So there’s no monotony, and the story is fast paced. There’s always something happening. The language is chic and the play of words is very impressive , you wouldn’t want to keep the book down.
Plus, the characters are very well crafted. Padma is every woman, like you and me. Who wants to achieve a lot and succeed everywhere, but doesn’t exactly know what’s wrong. She loves her family, but misses her independence. She is looking to spice up her life, and Anupama makes sure you don’t judge Padma. Also, Varun, Amma, Nana, Bhaama, Rohit…all are very realistic . The conversations with Jo and Kanakam got me giggling.
When Padma Bani Wifey is a compelling read. It’s characters are honest, conversations are natural and the story is pretty relatable. Discussing sadness and mental health with a pinch of humour is what works for this book.
I enjoyed it thoroughly, and highly recommend it to everyone.
